EJ Boley, shows his diversity in writing style with an amazingly well crafted compilation of short stories. When people hear "horror" they immediately jump to extreme violence and gore. Boley, has proven with this compilation just how vast and diverse the horror genre can truly be. That scary can be more than just a blood and guts, and monsters can be more than just a psycho with a knife.The compilation is made up of four short stories. Each story bringing a different side of the horror genre to the table, each story introducing a different type of monster. The book starts with Shallow Grave, a fast paced first person psychological thrill ride. Then onto Primus Nosferatu, which delivers a suspenseful, dark, and creepy historical drama based on Elizabeth Bathory. Then, Boley drops the reader into the middle of a high octane werewolf western with, High Moon. The compilation finishes out with what is, by far my favorite Boley short story, The Prodigal Sons. A gut-wrenching tale of fathers and sons set in the middle east.
The compilation really does have something for everyone and certainly won't disappoint. I highly recommend this book. I won't spoil the surprise...But, Boley gives us a little insight into what he is working on next. I can honestly say, I can't wait!

A great collection! I travel a lot for work, so I read on the train or plane rides. I love E.J. Boley's dark vision of fun and twisty turns of horror. Great compilation of short stories!
I never read horror, but this was recommended to me, so I gave it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised by how descriptive and gripping this book is! It really sucks you in! Enjoyable and recommended!
I really enjoyed this book! My dad used to tell me horror stories as a kid, so this book reminded me of those times. The descriptive writing was great! I was frustrated because I kept having to stop to do silly things like work or eat. This is one of those books that make you want to skip out on sleeping to read it. Highly recommended!
This is a compilation of 4 well-written stories in the horror category. I don't usually read this genre because I don't usually like these kind of books but these ones by E.J. Boley have surprised me. I enjoyed reading them and sometimes I was sucked by one of the stories and I couldn't put the book downt.
